Finally, we're off. Oona and Paul drove us across the border to Buffalo airport this morning.

In an abundance of caution, we're leaving a day early to avoid any problems boarding our Quantas flight in LA. As it turns out the weather is beautiful and sunny and the border crossing is less than 5 minutes.

Mike, still concerned that we may face delays at the airport, urges us to arrive 3.5 hours early for a domestic flight to Los Angeles. We check in and go through security in less than 15 minutes and then have only 3 hours to kill at the Buffalo airport. Good time to blog!

I'm looking up directions for various locations we will be visiting in LA and we discuss strategy for travel. The question is GPS or MAPs? Everyone has a different bias. I like maps. Mike likes to guess and then trial and error. No way ask for directions.

Since we now have about 30 hours in LA before we board our flight to Brisbane, I'm planning a little shopping at 'The Grove'. Anna and I had a very pleasant afternoon there when we visited LA two years ago.

OMG....Mike's having a little snooze sitting bolt upright on the airport lounge chair.

  1. Somehow the narrative so far suits you and dad well – I can picture dad sleeping upright at the airport. I already feel sorry for the unlucky bystander who accidently kicks dad’s feet as they walk by – and experience the fury of dad’s interrupted nap. (just kidding dad)
Paul and I made home from Buffalo without any issues – although I think Hugo is devastated with the absence of his parents. We’ll take him out to get him mind off things 
Enjoy LA – keep us posted with your itinerary. Be safe – especially you mom, don’t be a cowboy.
    Take care,
    Oona
